We decided on a whim this last weekend that we were going to take a trip up to Holland and visit Amsterdam with a friend. I knew as soon as I arrived that this city was going to be a city I loved. It was full of people everywhere the eye could see (something I’m still getting used to seeing) and we were immediately greeted by a towering Ferris wheel with a fair going on in the main square. It was magical to me.
We headed right out to grab some drinks and explore the city. (See my post on the Red Light District here.)
I think we stayed our wandering the city until at least 2 am when my legs just couldn’t go any further! We woke up the next morning to the aftermath of Amsterdam on a Saturday night.
We went to the main square and signed up for a free tour to check out the city during the day. The tour did not disappoint! We went all through the city seeing many sites and our tour guide even took us through the Red Light District and explained the history to us. Although the tour is free, the guide does work on tips so be sure to have some euros available. It was well worth the €20 we left him for the three of us.
After most of the day exploring, we grabbed a late lunch and headed home. I enjoyed Amsterdam so much and I can’t wait to go back!
